Alberto Del Rio, Paige Suspended by WWE

The WWE announced that two of its superstars, Alberto Del Rio and  Paige , have both been suspended for violating the company's talent wellness policy. It is the first time either have received a suspension, and both are for 30 days. The suspension starts today just as the WWE heads into  SummerSlam  weekend.  The WWE has been very public about the suspensions it hands down for superstars violating the wellness policy. Recently, Roman Reigns, another former champion, was on the shelf for thirty days for the same infraction. Exactly what Del Rio, Paige or Reigns took or did to earn the suspension is what is withheld. There are   always rumors , and the knee-jerk speculation is usually going to point to performance-enhancing drugs since professional wrestling has a long and storied past with those (to be fair, so does nearly every major American sport). Yet Del Rio and Paige being   very public about their personal activities outside the ...

WWE 'Battleground': Bayley Debuts and Ambrose Stays on Top

Things are looking up for the SmackDown brand Dean Ambrose kicks Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at WWE Battleground  WWE Hello everyone, and welcome to my recap of this year's  Lame Duck  PPV. What else should we call an event that's a glorified bridge between the pre- and post-draft eras and functions a table-setter for  SummerSlam ? Sure, Battleground  works, too. Anyhow, and per the snarky disclaimer, there was a bit more filler tonight than killer combat, although NXT marks got their Mojo on and more, Bob Backlund got weird and Randy Orton highlighted his snazzy new hashtag. So before this summary runs the risk of sounding as if I'm just Cross Face Chicken Wing-ing it, here are the five key insights (in addition to the usual accompaniment of Twitter-friendly sidebar fodder) I took away from 2016 edition of  Lame D … er,  Battleground .   4. Replay It Again, Sami 5. Bayley Breathing What, no  Duncan Sheik  fans among you...

'WWE Raw': AJ Styles Clubs John Cena

It was a good night for John Cena, who might finally have the crowd in his corner after A.J. Styles pissed all over his comeback, right in the midst of a fiery speech about Dylan Thomas. But before I lose my train of thought and derail this introduction like it were Golden Truth's momentum, here are the five key insights (in addition to the usual accompaniment of Twitter-friendly sidebar fodder) I took away from the May 30, 2016 edition of   Raw . It was a great night for folks who think WWE motors best when there's a murderers' row of malevolent heels manning the card. Styles, Gallows and Anderson, Seth Rollins, Charlotte, Kevin Owens…hell, even Rusev's looking fierce again holding down the midcard as U.S. Champ. In retrospect, good thing they hit the gas on New Day as fan favorites. 5. Hybrid Theory That's right, a Linkin Park reference. I'm OK with it. My gripe here has to do with tag-team-nickname fatigue. I love a good pun or play on words more tha...

WWE: Star suffers concussion on live TV

. View photo WWE superstar Enzo Amore left Sunday night's pay-per-view on a stretcher. Wrestling star Enzo Amore suffered a concussion on live TV during WWE Payback last night. The crowd favourite was injured during a No 1 Contenders Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship after being hurled through the ropes by Simon Gotch of the Vaudevillains. His face and left arm caught on the bottom rope as he slid over the apron and the back of his head slammed into the mat. Amore dropped to the floor and lay motionless under the skirt of the ring. The match was immediately called to a halt by the referee while fight partner Colin ‘Big Cass’ Cassady looked on anxiously as Amore was treated at ringside. Although he appeared to respond well to the attending medics, Amore was put into a neck brace before being escorted away on a stretcher. The 29-year-old was taken to a local hospital in Chicago where he underwent a full examination. Two hours after his unscheduled...
